Why Choose HVAC?

So you’re ready to start a new career? When you are considering your options, think carefully about HVAC Technology. Similar to Electricians, or even plumbers or  welders, HVAC techs are skilled tradespeople with a high level of specialized training. HVAC techs, however, are broadly trained in these trades as well as their own, making them highly desirable job candidates. Read on to learn more about HVAC, and what it takes to succeed in this rewarding industry.

What is Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technology?

Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning is the technology of indoor and vehicular environmental comfort, and the systems that provide all of us with that comfort. From heaters to keep us warm on cold winter nights, to the air conditioners that cool us off on hot summer days, HVAC technology maintains our homes, buildings, and vehicles in optimal conditions. Ventilation systems are critical as well, as they maintain air quality for our health and comfort. Together, these systems are critical for maintaining the air temperature and quality of the environment in which we live, work, and play.

HVAC technicians are the professionals who are responsible for the installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of those systems. In addition, HVAC techs are trained to conduct diagnostic tests to determine causes of problems and how to best repair those issues. HVAC techs also work with sensitive systems such as water, electrical, and fuel lines, and must be proficient in basic electrical and plumbing systems. Motivated HVAC techs stay informed on the most current technologies available and relevant governmental regulations, and may choose to specialize in specific aspects of the industry, such as solar panels, green technologies, commercial refrigeration, and radiant heating systems.

The need for these skilled professionals has been steadily increasing over recent years. More extreme weather has meant more brutally cold winters and sweltering summers- across the country, all year-round, there are vehicles, homes, and buildings in need of effective HVAC systems, and the technicians who install and maintain them. With HVAC technology continually developing, more “green” technologies such as solar panels and “smart” climate control systems becoming readily available, and changing governmental regulations, HVAC is a field that is expanding with ever increasing opportunities. That’s why there’s never been a better time to consider a career as an HVAC Technician.

So are you ready to take the next step towards becoming an HVAC Tech?

It takes training to be able to install and maintain HVAC systems, and to diagnose and repair problems in those systems. HVAC technicians with training from an accredited vocational school and proper certification are easily employable in today’s labor market. Technicians with computer proficiency and good troubleshooting skills are particularly desirable job candidates. NCE is accredited by ACCET (the Accrediting Council on Continuing Education and Training), ACCSC (the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges) and is an HVAC- Excellence accredited institution.

The Commercial Refrigeration, Heating and Air Conditioning program (HVAC) program at NCE prepares students for entry-level careers in the HVAC industry. NCE’s HVAC program teaches the knowledge and skills to install, service, and repair both residential and commercial air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration systems and maintain EPA regulations when troubleshooting and repairing residential and commercial equipment. NCE uses hands-on, practical training techniques to teach students how to work with temperature control systems, air quality systems, humidity and refrigeration systems.

Graduates of NCE’s HVAC program will be prepared to test for the industry-recognized ESCO EPA certification, 410A, OSHA, and the HVAC Excellence certifications, and are qualified to immediately enter the workforce and begin successful careers as HVAC technicians. If you think a career as an HVAC tech might be the right choice for you, then call NCE today to speak with one of our helpful, friendly admissions representatives.
